WASH Solutions for Healthy, Dignified & Resilient Communities

FINISH Society works across schools, Anganwadis, and communities to strengthen Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) systems that go beyond infrastructure. Our approach integrates safe sanitation, behaviour change, gender inclusion, water management, and community ownership—ensuring long-term impact and dignity for all, especially women and children.

WASH in Schools & Anganwadis

Creating Healthy Spaces for Learning

We transform schools and Anganwadi Centres into safe, child-friendly, and inclusive environments by strengthening WASH infrastructure and hygiene education—improving attendance, learning outcomes, and dignity, especially for girls.

1A. WASH in Schools & Anganwadis

FINISH Society transforms schools and Anganwadi Centres into safe, inclusive, and child-friendly spaces by strengthening water, sanitation, and hygiene infrastructure along with hygiene education. Our programmes focus on improving attendance, learning outcomes, and dignity—especially for girls.

How We Do It

  • Construct and retrofit gender-segregated, accessible toilets
  • Install low-cost handwashing stations using recycled materials and water-saving taps
  • Implement greywater management systems, rainwater harvesting, and water reuse
  • Develop kitchen gardens, compost pits, smart classrooms, amphitheatres, and BALA paintings
  • Promote a Community Co-Funding Model, where SMCs and parents contribute up to 30% of costs, building ownership
  • Integrate hygiene education, capacity building, and O&M support

WASH in Communities

Catalysing Community-Led Change

We promote sustainable sanitation and hygiene practices aligned with SBM-G Phase II, focusing on ODF sustainability, safe technologies, and behaviour change driven by communities themselves

What We Do

  • Facilitate construction and regular use of safe, affordable toilets with MFIs and government
  • Promote handwashing, menstrual hygiene, and waste segregation through street plays, SHG meetings, and mohalla baithaks
  • Strengthen Mohalla Committees for local leadership and cleanliness drives
  • Support water conservation through rainwater harvesting, greywater treatment, and safe water practices
  • Enable Faecal Sludge & Septage Management (FSSM) with twin-pit systems and desludging linkages

Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM)

Breaking Barriers. Restoring Dignity.

As a core WASH component, we ensure girls and women can manage menstruation safely, confidently, and without stigma, through education, infrastructure, and supportive ecosystems.

What We Do

As a core part of our WASH strategy, FINISH Society implements school and community-based MHM programmes to ensure girls manage menstruation safely, confidently, and without stigma.

How We Do It

  • Conduct age-appropriate MHM awareness sessions in schools, Anganwadis, and SHGs
  • Educate on menstrual health, hygiene practices, myths, and safe disposal
  • Sensitise boys, male teachers, and families to build supportive environments
  • Establish Pink Rooms with sanitary pad access, incinerators, and disposal systems
  • Build and retrofit girl-friendly toilets ensuring privacy, water, and safety
  • Integrate MHM with life skills, nutrition, anemia prevention, and health education
