Powering Progress Through Renewable Energy
FINISH Society has been making dedicated efforts in the field of renewable energy. In collaboration with SBI Card and Signify, we have installed nearly 650 kilowatts of solar power plants and over 1000 solar lights across remote and underserved regions of Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan.
These initiatives, undertaken with the support of our partner organizations, have brought smiles to many faces—and for us, those moments have been truly heartwarming.
As FINISH Society celebrates 15 years of impact in 2025, one story from our journey keeps coming back to us—etched in emotion and inspiration. It was the year 2022 when our team arrived at a modest school in a small village in Bihar. It wasn’t just any school—this was the very place where one of India’s most beloved actors, Shri Pankaj Tripathi, had taken his first steps toward greatness.
Our work at FINISH Society has never been limited to sanitation, infrastructure, or just building toilets. It has always been about dignity, opportunity, and illumination—in every sense of the word. When we joined hands with Signify Innovation India Limited under their Jagmag Pathshala CSR project, we didn’t realize that this mission would touch our hearts so deeply.
The school principal, a humble and grounded man, showed us around:
broken chairs, poor electrical infrastructure, children struggling in the heat. Then, with a quiet smile, he said,
“This is where Pankaj studied. I am his elder brother.”
A silence swept over us. That moment changed everything—this was no longer just an installation project. It became a pledge: from darkness to light.
With the support of our donor and guide, Signify Innovation India Limited, we installed a 4.5 kWp solar power system, complete with inverter backup. Classrooms were equipped with LED lights and fans, outdated wiring was replaced with safe and secure electrical infrastructure. But the real transformation began when we saw the light return to the eyes of the children. On inauguration day, the school courtyard was packed. Standing on stage, holding the mic, Pankaj Tripathi spoke straight from the heart:
“When we were children, we studied by kerosene lamps. We dreamt under trees. Now that I have achieved something in life, I want to ensure no child has to go through what we did.”
His words moved everyone. Amidst thunderous applause, he added,
“This school is not just brick and mortar—it is my soul. Today, it has light, air, and most importantly, hope.”
The impact of the project extended far beyond electricity. Digital learning began. Where rainy days once meant cancelled classes due to darkness, uninterrupted teaching now continues even during monsoons. A smart screen has been installed. One teacher shared,
“Earlier, motivating children to learn was a task. Now they are eager and self-driven.”
This wasn’t just a technical intervention—it became a symbol of social change. For FINISH Society, it was more than just a project; it was the culmination of 15 years of commitment—lighting the path for dreams to flourish. Looking back, we are filled with pride—at villages where once there were no toilets but now every household has one; at the transformation where adolescent girls who once stayed home during menstruation now attend school confidently; at neighbourhoods once plagued by stagnant water and waste heaps that now bloom with gardens.
This school in Belsand, once lit only by oil lamps, now radiates with energy and aspiration. It stands as a Pathshala of Possibilities—a school of inspiration where tomorrow’s leaders, scientists, artists, and educators are being shaped. Because when one dream finds light, it has the power to illuminate an entire society.
