Position Overview: Project Associate will play a critical role in engaging with the local communities in Chirala, Andhra Pradesh to raise awareness and facilitate the successful implementation of a rural solid waste management (SWM) project. The role focuses on behavior change, capacity building, and fostering community participation to ensure sustainable waste management practices.

Key Responsibilities:
1- Community Engagement and Awareness:
-Conduct community outreach to educate residents on waste segregation, composting, and recycling practices.
-Organize awareness campaigns, workshops, and events to promote solid waste management
2- Stakeholder Coordination:
-Collaborate with local authorities, and other stakeholders to align community initiatives with project goals.
-Act as a liaison between the community and project management
3- Implementation Support:
-Facilitate the distribution of resources such as waste bins and educational materials.
-Assist in setting up and monitoring waste collection systems and composting units.
4- Training and Capacity Building:
-Conduct training sessions for community members, local workers, and volunteers on best practices in waste management.
-Empower local women’s groups and youth to take an active role in project activities.
5- Monitoring and Reporting:
-Gather feedback from the community and provide regular progress reports to the project management team.
-Identify challenges and propose solutions for improving project outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Environmental Studies, or related fields.
Experience: 1-3 years of experience in community mobilization or similar roles, preferably in waste management or environmental projects.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in Telegu, knowledge of Hindi is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of solid waste management principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Other: Willingness to travel and work in rural and semi-rural areas.
Remuneration: – INR. 18000-20000 PM, Travel as per organisation policy
